“If there are food on my table, there will be food for you” she reassured. “We have come this far and we will get through this too”. She continued over the phone “I’m not good at this..”
I smiled and told myself I got a really good one. I gave her my proposal and plan on how to tackle and we both knew better days are ahead. “You’re a dragon and a lion (Leo)” she continued to motivate referring to the Chinese zodiac and the horoscope. “You people are meant to do great things”.
I got really lucky. Yes, this is a mom piece. My inspirational person. The most important woman in my life. She taught me to be humble, kind, and at times goofy on the side.
Her first name is Xi which means hope in Chinese. Her parents must knew she was the sweet one of the five. And lots of Hope she wishes to everyone but herself. She is selfless and always puts her family first. The kind of woman who will do anything in her power to support and defend her family. She gave up her hopes and dreams and dedicate her all to her husband and children. Putting everyone else’s goals above her own. Our happiness was hers.
My mother is the kindest person I have ever encountered. I am not just talking about the surface stuff like donating blood, registered as a organ donor, or giving money to the homeless every single time one passes which she does all and more.
She feels genuine pain when others are in distress and often go above and beyond to help others in need even with little she has. She would cry and mourn for strangers on TV and talk about it for hours and just simply want the best for everyone.
She preached to my brothers and I about kindness and to never cause anyone harm. It is not just a karma thing but like “the way” of Confucius.
She is among my influencers and someone who never once give up on me.
